Die vorgelegten Daten der durchgeführten Arzneimittelwirkstoffrecherche für das Land Brandenburg zeigen, dass sowohl für den Human- als auch den Tierarzneimittelsektor eine umfängliche Anzahl mengenrelevanter Wirkstoffe benannt werden kann. Im Land Brandenburg dominieren im freien Apothekenmarkt Schmerz- und Hustenmittelwirkstoffe. Im verordneten Apothekenmarkt wurden Wirkstoffe gegen Diabetes, Schmerzen, Husten, Asthma, Herz-Kreislauferkrankungen, Rheuma, Gicht sowie Antibiotika in Mengen von einer Tonne und mehr pro Jahr in Verkehr gebracht. Im Klinikbereich erreichten Desinfektionsmittel, Röntgenkontrastmittel und Durchblutungsmittel Wirkstoffmengen von mehreren Tonnen pro Jahr. Im Einzugsbereich des Klärwerkes Cottbus sind insgesamt mindestens rund 7 Tonnen Arzneimittelwirkstoffe jährlich verabreicht worden. Die höchsten Mengen entfallen dabei auf Desinfektionsmittel, Schmerz- und Rheumamittel, Diagnostika, Hustenmittel, orale Antidiabetika und Antibiotika mit jeweils mehr als 200 kg pro Jahr. Fast 9 t der verordneten 9,5 t Tierarzneimittelwirkstoffe wurden beim Schwein eingesetzt. 70% der Gesamtmenge aller Wirkstoffe entfallen auf die Antibiotika, hauptsächlich Tetrazykline.

The data presented on the inquired drug agent quantities in the Land Brandenburg reveals a great number of substances in relevant amounts in the area of human as well as veterinary drugs. In the Land Brandenburg, pain killers and cough medicine dominate the free pharmacy market. In the prescriptible pharmacy market, drug agents against diabetes, pain, coughs, asthma, cardiovascular diseases, rheumatism, gout as well as antibiotics were sold in amounts of one ton and more per year. In the hospital area, disinfectants, x-ray contrast media and blood flow medicines reached drug agent amounts of several tons per year.
Approaching the hinterland of the sewage plant Cottbus at least 7 tons of drug agents per year were seen to have been used. The greatest amounts can be attributed to disinfectants, pain and rheumatism medicine, diagnostics, cough medicine, oral anti-diabetics and antibiotics which are consumed at levels more than 200 kg per year.
Nearly 9 tons of the 9.5 tons of veterinary drug agents were prescribed for the animal species of the pig. 70% of the total amount of all drug agents fall to the antibiotics, mainly tetracyclines.
