2 LCA (2) 1997     The cover picture refers to: 1.) The current LCA-ISO activities with regard to the Kyoto Meeting of the ISO/TC 207 (see pp. 64 – 65): The ISO/TC 207 5th plenary and associated subcommittees meeting was held from April 18th through the 25th 1997 in Kyoto Japan. It was hosted by the Japanese Industrial Standards Committee (JISC). This year’s TC 207 plenary has been the largest ever since all six subcommittees (SC) attended concurrently for the first time. 2.) The exchange of activities between JLCA/JEMAI and Int. J. LCA (see p. 90): This issue starts a regular update of JLCA, and a preview and profile of Int. J. LCA can be seen in ECP Network News from Japan (ECP – Environmentally Conscious Products). ECP, the Environmental Network Newsletter, is sponsored by JEMAI, Japan (JEMAI – Japan Environmental Management Association for Industry). 3.) By the way, Life Cycle Assessment is also a tool for improving the environmental quality of building materials and products (see the interesting structure of the roof).
