15 ESPR (1) 2008

Front cover refers to the Editorial (pp. 1–2) and the Commentary (pp. 3–7). The two articles describe issues that are controversially discussed by both the scientific community and the public. Whereas scientific information is usually derived from research employing scientific methods and protocols, the media frequently selectively filters, simplifies and sensationalizes that information, thus creating a perception of controversy. It is almost impossible to re-direct such perceptions with reasoning and facts. --- Cover design: Edwin Grondinger, abavo GmbH, Nebelhornstraße 8, 86807 Buchloe, Germany (edwin.grondinger@abavo.de; www.abavo.de)
