1976-83 Student of chemistry and geo-sciences in Hamburg and Southampton, England.
1983 Diploma in chemistry at Hamburg University.
1988 Ph.D. in geochemistry at Hamburg University (“distribution of organohalogen pollutants in North Sea sediments”).
1989 Founding member of Ökopol GmbH - Institute for Environmental Strategies, Hamburg, Germany.
1989 - 2003 various leading positions at Ökopol GmbH; senior consultant on waste management, product eco-design, chemicals legislation & policy, IPPC and Best Available Techniques; strategic policy consulting; facilitation of stakeholder dialogues.
