Dr. Dimitrios Kotzias received his PhD in Chemistry from the University of Bonn, Germany. His PhD thesis was on the ´Reaction of Phenyl Urea Herbicides upon illumination of UV-light.´
During 1975-1986, he worked as a research chemist at the Institute of Ecological Chemistry (National Centre of Environmental Sciences, GSF) in Freising/Munich, Germany.
In 1986, Dr. Kotzias joined the JRC Institute of Environment as a senior scientist. During January 1998-May 2002, he served as Unit Head of the JRC Institute for Environment and Sustainability (IES).
