Markus Liebig studied biology at Darmstadt University, Germany, which he graduated in the field of plants physiology and tropical ecology.
He performed his PhD at ECT Oekotoxikologie GmbH within the European project POSEIDON (EVK1-CT-2000-00047; http://eu-poseidon.com/) and defended his doctoral thesis in 2005. The main focus of his work has been the performance of ecotoxicological studies and the preparation of environmental risk assessments of human pharmaceuticals.
