Blahoslav Marsalek is Associated Professor at the Masaryk University Brno and head of the Department of Experimental Phycology and Ecotoxicology at the Institute of Botany, Czech Academy of Sciences.
Our research is focussed on ecotoxicological consequences of cyanobacteria and cyanotoxins. Special topics granted in our team are:
- effect of cyanobacterial toxins on aquatic ecosystems,
- microcystins fate in water environment,
- toxins determination and quantification,
- special mechanisms of cyanobacterial toxicity,
- biomass quantification,
- autecology of microcystins and
- the development of novel device for cyanotoxins detection in drinking water treatment plant as an early warning detection systems.
