| Curriculum vitae: | Hirokazu Sugiyama studied chemical engineering at the University of Tokyo, Japan (2001 bachelor thesis ‘Uncertainty evaluation in Life Cycle Assessment’ and 2003 master thesis ‘Development of Process Design Methodology Based on Life Cycle Assessment’, both supervised by Prof. Masahiko Hirao).
Since September 2003 he is a PhD student at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich in the group of Prof. Konrad Hungerbühler. He focuses on the early phases of chemical process design (e.g. synthesis route selection) and tries to develop a decision-making framework which includes environmental, health and safety aspects as well as economic considerations. |
