Her interests are microbiology and physiology of the biodegradation of chloroaromatic compounds, with special reference to anaerobic reductive dehalogenation of dioxins.
Together with her research group, she studied, in different projects, the anaerobic dehalogenation potential of bacteria in contaminated and non-contaminated river sediments. The special tasks were the taxonomic diversity of dechlorinating communities, elucidation of dechlorination pathways and determination of suitable conditions for growth and activity of these bacteria.
Her research group is connected by a long stimulating cooperation with the group of Prof. Mirja Salkinoja-Salonen, University of Helsinki, Finland. | | Areas of interest: | | | Articles: | 14 ESPR_Special (1) 3-10 (2007), Biological Activity in a Heavily Organohalogen-Contaminated River Sediment (8 pp)
