(Associate) Subject Editor for IO and Hybrid LCA since March 2007.

Prof. Dr. Shinichiro Nakamura was born in Kamakura, Japan, in 1952. He received BA and MA in economics from Keio University, Tokyo, in 1974 and 1978, respectively, and Dr. rer pol from University of Bonn in 1983. He was research associate in econometric research projects in SFB21 at University of Bonn from 1979 to 1985, became assistant professor at Waseda University, Tokyo, was visiting associate professor at University of Toronto from 1988 to 1990, and has been professor of econometrics at Waseda University since 1992.

During the first 10 years at Waseda and partly at Toronto, his main field of interest was the applied econometric analysis of productivity measurement, technical change and functional specification in demand analysis. Major research outcomes from this period include Journal of Applied Econometrics 8, 1993 on the adjustment cost model of labor demand, and Review of Economics and Statistics 72-4 1990 on a new flexible functional form for economic production function. After this period, he became interested in input-output analysis of waste management, and its application to LCA of waste management issues. Major publications include Journal of Industrial Ecology 6-1, 2002 on the waste input-output model.
Areas of interest:
waste management
input-output LCA
material flow analysis
life cycle costing
industrial ecology
