After working for 15 years at the Netherlands Organization for Applied Scientific Research TNO, during which time he led significant research and case studies regarding packaging LCAs, in 1995 he was appointed founding director of the Centre for Packaging, Transportation and Storage at Victoria University in Melbourne. - - -
In Australia, Kees Sonneveld is leading the dissemination of the LCA approach to food and packaging supply chain stakeholders and has been one of the initiators towards the establishment of the Australian LCA Society. He is currently leading the establishment of a national Research and Development platform in sustainable packaging systems which will focus on role in defining and demonstrating sustainable packaging concepts and creating commercial solutions. - - -
Professor Sonneveld is a longstanding board member of the International Association of Packaging Research Institutes, Chairman of the management committee for the Australian Environmental Code of Practice for Packaging, and Vice-President of the Australian Life Cycle Assessment Society.
