Key qualifications focus on health risk assessment, pollution impact on soil and plants, safe agricultural production in polluted areas and contaminated land management. She is a co-author of the contaminated land classification, which was worked out by a research team of the Institute for Ecology of Industrial Areas (Katowice, Poland) in eighties and developed in nineties.
In the nineties, she was leader of bilateral Polish - German co-operation in the area of soil protection, land assessment, analytical methods for environmental protection, and risk assessment. She has been involved in several projects realised under the Fifth Framework Programme:
· 2000-2003: Integrated Concept for Groundwater Remediation (INCORE) - as a leader of the Polish team responsible for contaminated groundwater driven health risk assessment.
· 2001-2004: Innovative Management of Groundwater Resources - Training Programme for EU Accession Countries (IMAGE-TRAIN) - as a participant of Cluster Meetings and a trainer for Advanced Study Course
· 2002-2003: Network Oriented Risk-Assessment by In-Situ Screening of Contaminated Sites (NORISC) - as a member of risk assessment team, developed an unified risk assessment procedure for supporting contaminated sites management.
Currently she is involved in project: Management of Groundwater at Industrially Contaminated Areas (MAGIC), within INTERREG 3B CADSES Program. She is responsible for health risk assessment and landfill revitalization program, aiming at groundwater pollution abatement.
In 1999 she becomes an expert of European Commission (DG XII – AG, Science, Research & Development) in the field of toxicology, health risk evaluation and environmental impact assessment. So far she has taken part in evaluation sessions.
She is a member of Editorial Board of the Journal of Soils and Sediments, indexed by Chemical Abstract Service. She is also a member of the Environmental Protection and Waste Management Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Katowice Branch, Poland and a member of the Polish National UNESCO - MAB Committee (Chairman of the team MAB-10: Man in industrial regions).
She is an authorised Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) expert of Polish Ministry of Environment.
Her professional achievement consists of 90 scientific reports and publications
She also has experience giving lectures on environmental problems at the Polish Universities and also at the Michigan University in Ann Arbor, USA).
Her present position at the Institute for Ecology of Industrial areas, Katowice, Poland is the Head of the Environmental Risk Analysis Team in Ecological Policy Department.
